Here I am discussing with you four types of brainwaves that are related to the movement of electrical energy within neurons and pulsing across synapses.

  1. Beta waves: (13-25 cycles per second) Beta waves are the fastest waves and when the brain is focused on the world, with all senses gathering information, this type of waves are dominant. Actually, beta waves are associated with short-term memory.

  2. Alpha waves: (8-12 cycles per second) Alpha waves become more dominant when we are calm and relaxed, but still aware of our surroundings. And associated with when memory and recall is quickest and easiest.

  3. Theta waves: (4-7 cycles per second) Theta waves are more dominant when we feel deeply relaxed. This is the state of reverie, daydreaming and deep meditation or we have very easy access to long term memory storage and recall.

  4. Delta wave: (0.5-3 cycles per second) Delta are slowest waves and are the characteristic of sleep. There is no conscious thinking.

|Brain waves and learning| When we try harder, we keep our brains in beta mode and real learning still does not occur. Actually, the brain frequencies slow down towards the alpha range. It will be done, as we show later, by using music, relaxation and exercises. when we physically relax we have more alpha waves and this gives us easy to memory storage and recall system.
